Scope of Work
The renovation of this 100,000 square foot 1916/1921 school building provides improved and modernized facilities for 600 middle school students. This comprehensive upgrade required state of the art materials and equipment to be integrated with much of the school’s refurbished historical décor to accommodate the requirements of current and future learning environments.
A significant piece of this project was incorporating accessibility for all students through the addition of a new elevator, construction of a set of new interior stairs, and installation of a chair lift and ramps. In addition, major interior alterations were required to provide new spaces for physical education, industrial arts, family and consumer science, music and computer technology instruction. As part of this project, there were many interior improvements including the careful renovation of the school’s spacious auditorium to restore its original character and use. Finally, all plumbing, HVAC, electrical and data/communications systems were replaced, resulting in a complete upgrade of the building to meet the demands of the City of Quincy’s evolving educational programs.
